Pastor Alonzo B. Patterson, recognized a great need to alleviate the conditions of poverty, illiteracy, among young adults-at-risk in the Anchorage community. To address this need, SMBC created a separate nonprofit entity named Shiloh Community Housing, Inc. (SCHI). SCHI's goal is to help the community build assets such as quality affordable housing, good jobs, strong businesses, and educational programs. The long-term goal of SCHI is to ensure that all Alaskans have access to decent, affordable housing in safe and quality neighborhoods, so they can live healthy and productive lives as informed community residents.

3127 Tarwater Avenue, Anchorage, AK

SCHI is certified as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO), and has identified the Fairview Community Council boundary as its target market for housing. We adopted this area as our primary focus because it is considered a part of the Municipality’s Renaissance Zone. Encompassing most of the northern tier of the Municipality, the Renaissance Zone includes neighborhoods with a significantly higher concentration of low- to moderate-income individuals, fewer single family detached homes, and lower home-ownership rates than the rest of the Municipality.

We would love to hear from you.  Please feel free and contact us about any suggestions, they are welcome and greatly appreciated.
